I’ve always considered myself an inventor, explorer, and entrepreneur

For a science project in the third grade — when others were making rubber band catapults and soda bottle rockets — I made a fully functional, leafblower-powered hovercraft that could lift a fully-grown adult.

In college, I decided on a whim (as one does at that age) that I wanted to cycle across France. So I did, riding over 500 miles solo from Switzerland to the Mediterranean sea while couchsurfing in strangers’ homes and surviving on my intermediate French for a month.

I’ve started six different businesses — some more successful than others — ranging from a peer-to-peer textbook exchange to a card game production company to a city-wide scavenger hunt to gameify the collection of parking information.

Out of college, I freelanced for 3 years, offering “full stack” (a technical term defined here as “whatever you’ll pay me to do”) creative services for small businesses in the Denver area. In those years of wearing so many hats, I discovered my passion for designing memorable experiences: digital, physical, or often a hybrid of both.

Around that time, I was gifted a copy of Don Norman’s “Design of Everyday Things”, a book that would ultimately change the trajectory of my life and the very way that I look at the world. Within a week of finishing the book, I had enrolled in a UX Design bootcamp from Springboard.

Since then, I’ve had the fortune to work on such global brands as PayPal, Amazon, Comcast, Synchrony Financial, and of course, Zoom. 

At the end of 2020, I joined Zoom as the sole designer responsible for the Zoom.com website — at the time, the 5th most trafficked website in the world. Zoom grew quickly and so did our team; just a year after joining, I stepped into a management role overseeing a team of 4 while also retaining my full time design responsibilities.

In my free time, I love to explore new places both near and far; I love to hike, camp, and ski and have gotten lost in 44 countries on 6 continents. When not exploring, I can usually be found creating: either some contraption of my own invention in my woodshop or my latest business / app / game idea.
